Dominick Rolle

Director of Undergraduate Research

Dominick D. Rolle, Ph.D. served as Assistant Professor of English and faculty in Business at the University of The Bahamas. There, he led undergraduates in producing research and creative work as a Faculty Advisor for Tamarind: A Journal of Literature and Art.  A distinguished veteran of the US Navy, he is also a former Youth Counselor Supervisor of the Community Attention Home, located in Charlottesville, Virginia, and a leader in veteran service organizations. An interdisciplinary scholar, his specialties include 20th-century African Diaspora literatures, Gender Studies, Professional Communications, Community Engaged Learning, Leadership, and Strategy.

He completed his Ph.D. in English from Emory University (2016), his Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from Wake Forest University (2020), and his Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) with distinction in English from the University of Virginia (2008). He has received distinguished fellowships from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Hartford. His work has been published in the College Language Association Journal, Studies in American Culture, the Dictionary of Caribbean and Afro-Latin Biography, and other venues.

During his time at Emory as a doctoral candidate, Dr. Rolle led undergraduate research initiatives as a Research Consultant for the UNCF/Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program and while serving as a co-designer of the multiple-award-winning Emory-Men Stopping Violence Initiative. He led the creation of an undergraduate course and internship pipeline to challenge men to co-partner with women to eradicate intimate partner violence against women. During his tenure, students won awards, published in undergraduate journals, received full-tuition fellowships to Emory Law School, and created their own initiatives while becoming advocates against male intimate partner violence. Dr. Rolle believes that storytelling can be a powerful catalyst for effecting personal, organizational, and community transformation, and he is excited to return to his alma mater and join our Pathways Team as Director of Undergraduate Research Programs.
